Lower Jubba (KAAB TV) — In a decisive counter-terrorism operation, elite Somali National Army (SNA) forces, particularly the highly trained Danab commandos, launched a pre-planned military assault in the Harboole area of the Lower Jubba region. The operation forms part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling the operational capabilities of the Al-Shabaab militant group.
According to an official press release issued by the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, the targeted raid focused on disrupting Al-Shabaab leadership and its armed militia presence in the region. The ministry reported that several senior commanders and militants affiliated with the extremist group were killed or wounded during the operation.
While the statement confirmed the death and injury of high-ranking Al-Shabaab members, it did not disclose specific identities or the exact number of casualties. The Ministry noted that further details, including confirmed fatalities and intelligence findings, will be released once the assessment of the operation is fully completed.
This military action comes amid a significant escalation in anti-terror efforts across Somalia, with a particular focus on insurgent strongholds within the Jubbaland, South West, and Hirshabelle states. In recent weeks, the Somali National Army, in collaboration with regional security forces and international partners, has intensified its offensive to reclaim territory and weaken the group’s command structure.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized its continued commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring stability across all regions of the country.
