Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Somalia held its regular weekly meeting today, chaired by the Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre.
During the session, the Cabinet approved two key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Government of Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of media and culture.
These agreements mark an important step in enhancing diplomatic and cultural relations between the two brotherly nations, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting collaboration in information exchange, media development, and cultural preservation.
The Cabinet emphasized that such partnerships align with Somalia’s broader goal of deepening regional cooperation and showcasing Somali heritage on the global stage.
The Council also received detailed reports on the overall security situation in the capital, Mogadishu, and across the country.
The Ministry of Internal Security, in coordination with national security agencies, briefed the Council on the progress achieved in stabilizing key areas and on preparations to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the upcoming local council elections in the Banadir Region.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre commended the Somali Armed Forces and security agencies for their ongoing successes in the fight against the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab militants) and for their steadfast commitment to protecting the lives and property of Somali citizens.
The Cabinet reiterated its support for the national security operations and reaffirmed the government’s determination to eliminate terrorist threats and maintain peace throughout the nation.
In another resolution, the Council of Ministers strongly condemned recent incidents involving actions deemed contrary to Somali culture and Islamic values, which have reportedly been perpetrated by certain individuals.
The government expressed deep concern over these violations and directed security institutions to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring all those responsible before the law.
The Cabinet underscored the importance of preserving the moral and cultural fabric of Somali society, emphasizing that such behaviors will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Concluding the session, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre urged all government institutions to continue working in unity to advance the national development agenda, ensure stability, and deliver services to the Somali people.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance, promoting international partnerships, and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and values.
