Aboorey (KAAB TV) – Somalia’s armed forces, with the backing of local troops, launched a major offensive this morning in the Aboorey area of the Hiran region, which was believed to be a stronghold for numerous Al-Shabaab fighters.
The national and local forces carried out simultaneous attacks from multiple directions in Aboorey, leading to a fierce and bloody confrontation. Reports indicate that the Al-Shabaab militants stationed there were defeated in the ensuing battle.
“The national heroes and local fighters launched a successful assault against the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) in the Aboorey area this morning. Just yesterday, similar attacks took place in Ruun-Nirgood and Doraad Gulane. This reflects the growing pressure the Khawarij are facing,” said Al Adalada, a local spokesman.
In addition, government forces struck Al-Shabaab militants in the Ruun-Nirgood area of the Shaelaha Dakhe region yesterday. The operation resulted in the removal of the militants, with several of them killed in the engagement.
