KISMAAYO (Kaab TV) – Former Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, accompanied by a delegation, has just arrived at Kismayo Airport, where he was warmly received.
Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe greeted him at Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan Airport, where a welcoming ceremony was held.
Sheikh Sharif, a member of the Somali Future Council, will participate in the Kismayo conference set to open tomorrow. Opposition figures who are against President Hassan Sheikh are also expected to attend.
During his stay in Kismayo, the leader of the Salvation Forum will hold separate meetings with the leaders of Jubbaland, Puntland, and other politicians gathering in the coastal city, the capital of Lower Juba region.
According to the plan, the Somali Future Council will use the conference to discuss the country’s political situation and issue decisions, with only a few months remaining in President Hassan Sheikh’s term.
The Kismayo conference is also expected to be the largest opposition gathering to date, with participation from other politicians who are not council members.
Additionally, the conference is planned as a platform to oppose the one-person, one-vote elections being organized by the Federal Government of Somalia. Recently, the council explicitly stated its opposition to any term extension for President Hassan Sheikh, issuing a strong warning on the matter.
