Beled-hawo (Kaab TV) – Security operations are underway in Balad-Xaawo, a district in Gedo Region under the Jubbaland administration, targeting armed groups responsible for a series of killings. According to residents who spoke to the media, five people were killed in the district last night and early this morning.
Among those killed were two brothers, local sources confirmed. The brothers were in the same location when an armed group approached and fatally shot them along with two others who were with them.
This morning, another armed individual carried out an additional killing in the same district. Police forces have begun searching for the perpetrators of these attacks, which are believed to be linked to clan-related revenge killings stemming from previous incidents in the area.
Clan-motivated killings have recently increased in southern and central Somalia. Armed groups organized along clan lines have targeted men, women, and children—sometimes even members of the same extended families.
