Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Saudi government has officially approved a cooperation agreement with the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, focused on combating terrorism and disrupting its financing.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Saudi Cabinet, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in Jeddah on Tuesday, May 20, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Cabinet emphasized the importance of the agreement for both nations, highlighting the necessity of supporting Somalia in its ongoing efforts against terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab and Daesh (ISIS).
This development follows Somalia’s recent approval of a separate defense agreement between its Ministry of Defense and its Saudi counterpart, underscoring a growing partnership in regional security cooperation.
Regional security experts view these agreements as a strategic move that enhances the capabilities of both nations in addressing mutual threats and strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
