Moscow (KAAB TV) – The Russian military announced yesterday that it successfully shot down a U.S.-manufactured F-16 fighter jet being used by the Ukrainian military in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
According to various international media outlets, the aircraft was reportedly brought down by either Russia’s advanced S-400 air defense system or an R-37 air-to-air missile.
Russian sources confirmed that the pilot of the downed jet, 26-year-old Pavel Ivanov, was killed in the incident. The Ukrainian military has so far provided limited information about the circumstances surrounding the incident or the loss of the aircraft.
This marks the second reported F-16 shot down by Russian forces in Ukraine, according to Russian military statements.
