Mogadishu (Kaab TV) — Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State has officially launched campaigning for its seventh regional and national elections.
Large rallies were held on Saturday across several towns and districts in support of ruling Barwaqo Party candidates.
Thousands of supporters gathered in public squares across the region, waving flags and banners as party candidates began campaigning for both local and federal parliamentary seats.
Somali Regional State President Mustafa Muhumed Omar addressed a major rally in (Dhagaxbuur), urging voters to support the (Barwaqo) Party and highlighting the party’s achievements while in power.
“Yesterday we won; the (Barwaqo) Party won, and the people won. Tomorrow we will win as well, so vote for the party,” Mustafa told supporters in (Dhagaxbuur).
The campaign launch marks the beginning of a politically significant period in the Somali Regional State, where the ruling party is working to consolidate support across urban centers, border districts, and rural communities.
In Feerfeer in the Shabelle Zone, supporters held a large rally backing Barwaqo Party candidates running for local and federal seats. Party supporters displayed campaign banners and pledged their support.
In the Qorraxay Region, the campaign was launched in Shilabo, where Barwaqo Party candidates addressed residents and outlined their development plans. They called on the public to participate actively in the election and support the party’s agenda.
Another major rally was held in Godey, one of the main towns in the Shabelle area, where large crowds turned out in support of Barwaqo Party candidates.
Campaign activities also continued in the Daawa Zone, where (Barwaqo) Party candidates toured several districts, including Moyale, Ley, and Qadadumo, before arriving in Mubarak.
In Mubarak, The candidates were welcomed by local residents, party supporters, and senior regional officials.
The reception was attended by the deputy speaker of the regional House of Representatives, ministers, and other government officials.
Residents met the candidates on the outskirts of Mubarak and escorted them into the district, where party officials held campaign events with community members.
The (Barwaqo) Party is expected to continue holding rallies across the Somali Regional State as candidates seek to strengthen support ahead of the upcoming vote.
