MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – Opposition politicians from Puntland with close ties to Somalia’s Federal Government, who had been in the port city of Bosaso in recent days, held a meeting yesterday afternoon with several traditional elders and community leaders in the town of Qardho.
The delegation was led by Abdiasamad Gallan, a political adviser to Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. During the meeting, the politicians discussed the purpose of their visit to Puntland, describing it as a political awareness and outreach campaign, while also strongly criticizing Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and his administration.
In a symbolic gesture during the gathering, some of the elders in Qardho honored President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud with a horse, praising his leadership and describing his administration as one that has guided Somalia in a positive direction. The honor was formally received on the president’s behalf by adviser Abdiasamad Gallan.
The opposition politicians later traveled to Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland, where they are currently staying as political activities and consultations continue.
The visit comes amid ongoing political tensions between Puntland authorities and the Federal Government, with disagreements over governance, constitutional matters, and political influence continuing to shape relations between the two sides.
