Putin Reaffirms Commitment to War Goals, Rejects Diplomatic Pressure Amid International Efforts

|

Beijing (KAAB TV) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated his determination to continue military operations in Ukraine until all of Russia’s strategic objectives are fully achieved, warning that negotiations will only be possible if Kyiv agrees to Moscow’s terms.

Speaking during a visit to China, where he attended a high-profile military commemoration, Putin’s comments were widely interpreted as a pointed message not only to Ukrainian leadership but also to former U.S. President Donald Trump and the broader U.S.-led international order.

Putin emphasized that Russia would not be swayed by external diplomatic overtures, even as he acknowledged what he described as Trump’s “sincere efforts” to broker peace. Despite this nod to diplomacy, the Russian leader made it clear that his position remains unchanged, and that the Kremlin will not back down without securing what it sees as its vital national interests.

In response to these developments, UK Defence Secretary John Healey visited Kyiv, where he praised international efforts to pressure the Kremlin and strengthen Ukraine’s defenses. He noted that Trump’s involvement had brought Putin closer to the negotiating table, but warned that this alone would not be sufficient to end the conflict.

Healey also stated that the United Kingdom, along with other Western allies, is prepared to intensify economic sanctions on Russia and expand military and financial support to Ukraine. “We will continue to stand with Ukraine—not only in words, but with actions that increase the cost of aggression for Moscow,” he said.

As the war drags on, international divisions over strategy and diplomacy appear to be deepening, with some pushing for intensified pressure on Russia, while others hope for a negotiated settlement. For now, however, President Putin has made it clear that he is not ready to compromise.
