Puntland’s Interior Minister Defends Cooperation with Somaliland Amid SSC-Khatumo Tensions

|

GAROWE (KAAB TV) – Puntland’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdi Farah Saeed (Juxa), has defended the recent cooperative relationship formed between Puntland and Somaliland, clarifying that the agreement is not intended to undermine the SSC-Khatumo administration.

Speaking to the media, Minister Juxa emphasized that the partnership is focused purely on security cooperation, following discussions between the two parties. He noted that the relationship began with a prisoner exchange — a gesture meant to build trust and ease tensions.

“The objective is peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and maintaining neighborly relations,” Juxa said, stressing that both sides are committed to regional stability.

He also clarified Puntland’s stance on SSC-Khatumo, stating that Puntland does not oppose the people of SSC seeking their own administration. “There needs to be a forum or platform where we can amicably part ways and establish two separate administrations,” he explained.

However, Juxa criticized recent actions taken by SSC leader Firdhiye, claiming they do not reflect the cooperative spirit between Puntland and SSC-Khatumo. Despite these concerns, the minister reaffirmed Puntland’s continued respect for the aspirations of the SSC people and its support for their administration.
