Garowe (Kaab TV) – The President of the Puntland regional administration, Said Abdullahi Deni, today received a high-level delegation from the United States government in the city of Garowe.
The delegation included senior officials and military officers.
The delegation was led by Acting U.S. Ambassador Justin Davis and included officials from the United States Africa Command, among them Col. Shane Jones, commander of U.S. special operations in Africa.
The meeting focused on the security and political situation in Somalia, particularly the ongoing fight against ISIS militants operating in the Cal Miskaad mountains.
A press release issued by the Puntland administration stated: “We discussed with the United States issues related to security, investment, and the development of Puntland’s natural resources, including minerals, fisheries, and oil.”
The meeting was also attended by other officials from the Puntland administration and comes at a time when recent talks between the Federal Government and the opposition ended without reaching an agreement.
