GAROWE (Kaab TV) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Presidential Palace with officials from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Higher Education Commission, and representatives of universities across Puntland to discuss the future development of the region’s higher education sector.
The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Education, focused on a range of issues aimed at strengthening the quality, governance, and effectiveness of higher education institutions. Participants reviewed ongoing challenges facing universities and explored ways to improve coordination between educational stakeholders.
Among the key issues discussed was the need to reform and enhance cooperation between the Puntland Higher Education Commission and universities operating across the state. Officials emphasized the importance of building a stronger regulatory framework to ensure academic standards are maintained and educational institutions operate effectively.
The discussions also highlighted efforts to improve the quality of higher education through the promotion of technology-based learning, expansion of research programs, strengthening of academic standards, and implementation of policies and regulations governing the sector. Participants stressed that investment in innovation and scientific research is essential for preparing students to compete in an increasingly technology-driven world.
In addition, the meeting reviewed strategies to accelerate educational development and equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to Puntland’s social and economic progress.
