Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has expressed his condolences over the death of renowned Somali singer and songwriter Ahmed Ali Egal, who passed away in the United States.
In a statement issued on behalf of himself, the Puntland government, and the people of Puntland, President Deni described the late artist as a patriotic cultural icon and a distinguished member of Somalia’s legendary Waaberi National Troupe.
He praised Ahmed Ali Egal for his immense contribution to the promotion of Somali music, language, literature, and culture, saying he leaves behind a lasting artistic legacy that will be remembered for generations.
President Deni extended his heartfelt sympathies to the late artist’s family, relatives, friends, and the Somali people, praying that Allah grants him mercy, forgives his sins, blesses him with Jannatul Firdaws, and gives strength and patience to all those mourning his passing.
