BOSASO (KAAB TV) – Puntland’s Darawish forces have conducted a major military operation targeting the Daesh militant group in the Miirale and Balade areas of the Bari region over the past few hours.
The operation, which was meticulously planned and lasted for several hours, resulted in the deaths of more than 35 Daesh fighters. According to military sources, the militants were flushed out of their hideouts and engaged in direct combat with the Puntland forces.
Commanding officers who led the offensive presented the media with the bodies of the slain militants, most of whom were identified as foreign fighters affiliated with Daesh. The clashes reportedly took place in areas stretching between Miirale and Balade.
In addition to the casualties inflicted, Puntland Darawish forces also destroyed a weapons cache and military equipment belonging to the group, dealing a significant blow to Daesh’s operational capabilities in the region.
This latest offensive comes amid a surge in Puntland’s military actions against Daesh. Just last week, Puntland forces successfully seized the group’s main command center in Toga Miirale, further weakening the militant presence in northeastern Somalia.
