Lasaanood (KAAB TV) – Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre officially inaugurated the new headquarters of the Public Identity Registration Agency (NIRA) in Lasaanood, the administrative capital of SSC-Khatumo. The new center is set to play a vital role in delivering essential identification services to the local population.
The facility will enable residents to obtain their National ID Cards locally, eliminating the need for long-distance travel to access this critical service.
“Citizens must be registered and recognized—it is a constitutional right,” said Prime Minister Barre. “This initiative originated from the people of Khatumo, and I am proud that the President was the first to be registered here.”
He further emphasized that national identity is not only a constitutional entitlement but also a foundational element for the nation’s development and governance.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of the Danish government in supporting the re-establishment of a secure and digital National Identity system, ensuring the protection and integrity of citizens’ information.
