Planned Somali Parliament Session Canceled Without Explanation

|

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – A scheduled session of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia was unexpectedly canceled today. The session was part of the Assembly’s regular parliamentary schedule.

Today’s meeting was expected to be the first gathering of MPs following a short recess in observance of recent holidays. The Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly had decided during its Thursday meeting that parliamentary sessions would officially resume today, Monday.

Despite this decision, no meeting took place, and no official reason was given for the cancellation.

The People’s Assembly typically convenes three times a week—on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. The next session is now anticipated to be held on Wednesday, barring any further changes.

This is not the first time a scheduled meeting of the People’s Assembly has been called off without public explanation. The repeated cancellations have raised concerns about the Council’s efficiency and the consistency of its planning processes.
