MOGADISHU, Somalia (Kaab TV) – Mogadishu has experienced severe flooding this week following heavy rains that fell on Saturday and Sunday, throughout Monday (20 – 22 June) leaving many roads impassable and inundating streets across the city.
Residents have reported significant disruptions to transportation and daily activities as floodwaters submerged key routes.
Experts say the recurrent flooding in Mogadishu is driven by a combination of increasingly intense rainfall linked to climate change, inadequate urban drainage systems, rapid urban expansion, and blocked waterways.
Even moderate rains can inundate parts of the city when drainage channels are unable to cope with the volume of water.
