NISA Eliminates Senior Al-Shabaab Operative in Lower Shabelle

Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said it conducted a planned security operation on Wednesday on the outskirts of Afgooye district in the Lower Shabelle region, killing a senior al-Shabaab operative.

In a statement, NISA said the militant was responsible for assembling and planting landmines used in attacks against security forces and civilians in the area.

The agency described the mission as a targeted and carefully coordinated operation intended to neutralize six individuals believed to pose a serious threat to the security of Afgooye and nearby areas. However, only one militant was confirmed killed during the operation.

“The operation was carried out with precision, leading to the elimination of the suspect and the seizure of an AK-47 rifle,” NISA said.

NISA did not release the identity of the individual killed and provided no details on whether there were additional casualties.

The agency said operations against al-Shabaab will continue until security is fully restored across the country.
