The Commander of the Mudug Regional Police Division, Colonel Mahmoud Muse Bille (Farda-fuul), on Thursday attended the funeral of Lieutenant Colonel Guuleed Abdulkadir Kadleeye, the Jarriiban District Police Commander, who was brutally killed the previous night in the district.
The funeral was also attended by the First Deputy Governor of Mudug Region, Abdulqadir Warsame Kooshin, the regional coordinator of the Ministry of Interior, senior police and security officials, the Jarriiban district administration, traditional elders, religious leaders, and hundreds of local residents.
Officials who addressed mourners strongly condemned the killing, praying that God grant the late commander the highest place in Paradise and give patience and strength to his family, relatives, the Puntland Police Force, and the Somali people.
They also praised the swift response by the security forces, supported by local residents, which led to the rapid arrest of the suspect accused of carrying out the killing.
The officials stressed that anyone involved in such crimes would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The Mudug regional administration and the Mudug Police Command concluded by urging the public to continue cooperating closely with the security agencies to strengthen peace and prevent further acts of violence and insecurity.
Puntland authorities on Friday, 17 July 2026, carried out the execution of Ibrahim Ahmed Kooshin, who had been convicted of murdering Lieutenant Colonel Guuleed Abdulkadir Kadleeye, the commander of the Jarriiban District Police Station in Somalia’s Mudug region.
Lt. Col. Kadleeye was shot dead in Jarriiban earlier this week and was buried in the district on Thursday.
Local sources said the convicted gunman was believed to have links to pirate groups operating along the Puntland coastline.
According to Puntland authorities, police arrested Kooshin during a security operation shortly after the killing.
On Thursday, a court sentenced him to death under the Islamic principle of qisas (retaliatory justice), following a request by the victim’s family.
The execution was carried out by a police firing squad on Friday morning in a public area.
Puntland officials and members of the public witnessed the execution, while the victim’s family exercised their legal right to authorize the sentence.
