Mortar Shells Fired at Aden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu Amid Ethiopian Prime Minister’s Visit

|

Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Several artillery shells were fired at Aden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu shortly after the arrival of the Ethiopian Prime Minister and his large delegation. Additionally, around five mortar shells landed in the vicinity of the airport.

While there were reports of clashes in and around the airport, the situation returned to normal after a brief period. Troops with military vehicles have blocked most of the main roads, halting traffic, and restricting pedestrian access in some areas.

This type of mortar attack, often attributed to the extremist group Al-Shabaab, has targeted key locations in the capital before, including the presidential palace and the Halane military camp.
