Mogadishu Mayor Pledges an End to Damaged Roads by 2026

MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, who officially inaugurated the rehabilitated Nasiib Bridge Road in Shibis District, has pledged that no damaged roads will be seen in the capital during the remaining months leading into 2026.

Mayor Muungaab stated that the local government is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities, including the reconstruction of roads, improving cleanliness, and maintaining infrastructure within its capacity. He also called on the public to play their part and contribute to these efforts.

He noted that the companies contracted to construct the roads have agreed to take responsibility for repairing any defects that may arise. He emphasized that any challenges affecting the roads require cooperation between the authorities and local residents.

“In the new year 2026, Mogadishu will not have broken asphalt roads or dirt roads. Our goal is a developed, secure Mogadishu with strong economic infrastructure and complete public services, God willing,” said the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu.

Mayor of Mogadishu, General Muungaab, further announced that in 2026 the city will move forward with the construction of the 30th Road, the Industrial Road, and the paving of Jamhuuriya Road in Kaaraan District of Banadir Region, as he stated.
