Ankara (KAAB TV) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking to Bloomberg newspaper, said that his country has succeeded in ending the crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia.
Fidan pointed out that Turkey has a strong relationship with the African Union, stressing that African leaders want to strengthen their relationship with Turkey.
While talking about Turkey’s role in the peace process between Somalia and Ethiopia, Fidan pointed out that there is no armed conflict in different regions of Somalia, which he described as a good thing.
He admitted that there are still internal tensions in the country that need an urgent solution.
Minister Fidan said that after the elections in Somaliland, the situation seems to have calmed down, which is considered a good development.
Fidan stressed that Turkey is working with the Somali government to fight against extremist groups such as Al-Shabaab, and expressed hope that this issue will be resolved in the near future.
Regarding the peace agreement between Somalia and Ethiopia, Fidan described it as a success and a good example of how African countries are taking responsibility for solving their problems.
He praised the Ankara agreement between Ethiopia and Somalia, and described it as an important one that shows the ability of African countries to solve their challenges by receiving external support.
