Mine Explosion Near Barawe Airport Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

Barawe (KAAB TV) – A mine explosion near the airport in Barawe, located in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, has resulted in one death and two injuries, according to local reports.

Authorities have confirmed that one individual was killed in the blast, while two others sustained injuries. The injured are currently receiving treatment at medical facilities in Barawe town.

Preliminary information suggests that the mine was planted with the intention of targeting a vehicle headed to Barawe airport. Reports indicate that the vehicle was transporting jade to the city.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack. However, it is noteworthy that Al-Shabaab has previously carried out similar bombings in the region.

Security forces from Barawe District responded promptly to the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, no official details have been released regarding the perpetrators or further developments in the case.
