Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – Members of the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia have issued a statement against the illegal occupation of public land in Mogadishu.

The leaders of the two Houses, numbering up to 97 MPs, have warned Somali businessmen against selling public land and accused the government officials of holding them hostage.

“As members of the two Houses of the Somali Parliament who are fulfilling their constitutional duties, we submit here to stand up for the protection of property of common interest and to warn people who facilitate the destruction of Villa Somalia land of common interest” was said in a statement issued by these MPs.

This statement is the second one issued by the members of the two chambers of the Somali Parliament, showing how they are against the looting of public land.

The MPs also said in their writing that President Hassan Sheikh, who is from the education community, has auctioned off a lot of land for education.

“The president who is from the education community auctioned off the places where most of the Somalis were studying, such as Umada University, Ilays School and many others, and he was not ashamed of the fate of the Somali youth,” said the statement issued by the MP.
