The verdict was delivered on Monday in the presence of both families, the presiding judges, public prosecutors, and the defendant’s lawyer.

According to the court, Abdikarim deliberately shot the victim and failed to provide any assistance afterward.

The judge further noted that the accused used an illegal AK-47 rifle and posed a serious threat to the peace and security of Garowe, the capital of Nugal region in Puntland.

The presiding judge, Abdikarim Mohamed Aw-Nur, said the ruling was made under the Islamic principle of Qisaas (retributive justice), following a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
