Mahaday (KAAB TV) – On the night of April 28, 2025, the local defense forces of Mawisley launched a successful planned operation in the Eid-e-Cid forest, located in Mahaday district of the Middle Shabelle region. The operation targeted suspected members of the Al-Shabaab militant group.
The operation was reportedly organized and led entirely by local security forces. According to Osman Beerey, a prominent local security leader in Mahaday, the mission effectively disrupted an attempted attack by Al-Shabaab militants.
“We successfully cleared the area of Al-Shabaab fighters and recovered weapons and military supplies that were intended to destabilize the region,” Beerey stated.
He confirmed that the operation dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s plans in the area. Four militants were killed during the engagement, and their bodies were transported to Ali Fooldhere in the Middle Shabelle region for verification and further investigation.
Following the operation, local forces secured full control of the area. No casualties were reported among local security personnel or civilians. Mawisley forces remain in the area, continuing cleanup operations and working to stabilize the region.
