Laftagareen Rejects Claims of Negotiations with Villa Somalia and Adan Madobe

BAIDOA (Kaab TV) Former Southwest State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen) has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that he is involved in reconciliation efforts with Villa Somalia, Southwest State leader Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), and other political actors.

In a statement issued by his office, Laftagareen described the reports as false and misleading, saying they do not reflect the current political and security realities in Southwest State. He urged the public to disregard unverified information circulating on social media and instead rely on official statements issued by his office and the relevant institutions of Southwest State.

The statement comes amid continued political and military tensions in Baidoa, where forces loyal to Laftagareen and those aligned with the current Southwest State administration, backed by the Federal Government of Somalia, have been engaged in recurring clashes in and around the regional capital. The fighting has displaced civilians, heightened security concerns, and deepened the political crisis that has gripped the state in recent weeks.

Laftagareen’s office also reaffirmed that security forces under his command will continue carrying out what it described as their constitutional responsibility to protect civilians, preserve public order, and safeguard the security and stability of Southwest State. The statement added that ongoing security operations will continue in accordance with the law.

The denial follows widespread speculation that mediation efforts were underway to resolve the prolonged political and military standoff between the rival factions competing for control of Southwest State. However, Laftagareen’s office insisted that no negotiations or reconciliation process involving him are currently taking place.

The political impasse in Southwest State remains unresolved, with observers warning that the absence of meaningful dialogue could further escalate tensions and undermine efforts to restore lasting peace, stability, and effective governance in Baidoa and the wider region.
