Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – The former President of South West State of Somalia, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed (Lafta-gareen), has spoken about his current political activities related to the administration, following his earlier defeat and removal from the city of Baidoa.
Lafta-gareen first declared that he remains the legitimate President of South West State, claiming that he was re-elected to the position on March 28.
“I was previously president, and on March 28 I was elected again as the President of South West State. Therefore, I am the duly elected and legitimate president,” said Lafta-gareen, who is currently in exile.
He also emphasized that preparations are underway and that they intend to “liberate” South West State, which he says is now fully controlled by the federal government.
“Better days are coming. Be patient and prepare for a new struggle to liberate the country and its people. I wish you progress, prosperity, and overall success,” he added.
He further stated, “God willing, we will soon return to our مناطق (regions), carrying our independence and exercising the electoral rights that belong to us. Do not be misled by widespread misinformation. What we have today must not be lost. Truth and falsehood are not the same, and ultimately, truth will prevail.”
These remarks come as forces loyal to Lafta-gareen are currently reported to be in the Gedo region, where they are carrying out significant movements in opposition to the Federal Government of Somalia’s plans for South West State.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Ugaas Hassan Abdi Mohamed, spokesperson for the former president, released a 19-second video showing himself wearing a turban and leading troops on motorbikes (known locally as “Fekon”) in a rural area—sparking widespread public discussion.
