NAIROBI (Kaab TV) – Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, stated that the Somali government has filed a lawsuit against Somali youths who filmed themselves on the streets of Nairobi.
Ambassador Jibril noted that one person lost their life in the incident, while others sustained injuries. He added that Kenyan security forces informed him that the Somali Embassy had been hindering efforts to reach out to the young people putting themselves at risk.
Addressing the Kenyan community, Ambassador Jibril emphasized that the youths’ actions do not reflect Somali culture.
He clarified that only a small number of young people are involved in these recent incidents and assured that measures would be taken to address the situation.
“Recently, there have been programs where Somali youths take videos of themselves on Nairobi highways. This is dangerous and illegal. They can film from a hotel, a house, or other safe locations. There is no need to do it on the street. Unfortunately, someone has died, and others have been injured,” said Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle.
In Mogadishu, youths who record videos on the streets have also been warned after some took dangerous risks involving trucks and even confronted each other while filming.
