KISMAYO (Kaab TV) – Jubbaland State Vice President Mohamud Sayid Aden has voiced deep concern over Somalia’s increasingly fragile political environment, emphasizing the urgent need for a unified national approach to address the country’s ongoing challenges.
In a detailed statement shared on his official Facebook page, the Vice President underscored that Somalia continues to grapple with entrenched issues that demand consensus-driven solutions.
He lamented that the country has yet to find a leader capable of consistently placing the public interest above personal or political gain—an absence he believes has hindered efforts to rebuild government institutions and restore public trust.
In his message, Mohamud Sayid Aden outlined three critical steps he believes must be taken immediately to stem the widening political divide. First, he called for an unconditional, inclusive meeting of the National Consultative Council, bringing together its leaders to openly address the key points of contention that continue to fuel political instability.
According to him, such a gathering has the potential to produce decisive, unifying outcomes that could help steer the nation toward stability.
The Vice President further stressed the need for candidates preparing to contest national leadership positions in 2026 to recognize and respect the weight of the National Consultative Council’s decisions.
These decisions, he noted, play a significant role in shaping Somalia’s political direction and must be upheld to safeguard progress and prevent further fragmentation.
Concluding his statement, Mohamud Sayid Aden issued a direct appeal to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, urging him to confront the country’s complex realities “bravely” and to lead the nation with a clear focus on what can realistically be achieved in the present moment.
He emphasized that strong, courageous leadership is essential at this critical juncture if Somalia is to overcome its challenges and move toward a more stable and unified future.
