Mogadishu (KAAB TV) – The Jubbaland administration has raised concerns over the involvement of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in current political dialogue efforts aimed at resolving ongoing national disputes.
Jubbaland’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdifatah Mohamed Mukhtar, emphasized that the regional state remains committed to its stance on political autonomy and does not take directives from the central government at Villa Somalia.
“Jubbaland withdrew from the National Consultative Forum on October 7, 2024, after making an independent and responsible decision,” said Minister Abdifatah. “If President Hassan has forgotten that, let him be reminded: Jubbaland is not guided by Villa Somalia. We control our own destiny.”
Despite the firm rhetoric, Jubbaland’s President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe), has expressed support for a unified dialogue to combat Al-Shabaab and promote national unity. He has consistently stressed the importance of an inclusive political process to resolve differences and coordinate efforts against the terrorist group, which poses a significant threat to Somalia’s security and sovereignty.
Ahmed Madobe continues to advocate for national cooperation, noting that only through unity can Somalia confront the challenges posed by extremism and safeguard its future.
