The Jubbaland administration has announced that tensions in Beled Hawo district, Gedo region, have been peacefully resolved following several days of efforts to restore security and stability in the area.
In a statement issued by the Jubbaland Presidency, the regional administration said the dispute behind the tensions had been settled through dialogue and mutual understanding.
It added that efforts to ease the situation and strengthen security in the district had achieved positive results.
Jubbaland thanked traditional elders, women, intellectuals, youth and security officers for their role in defusing the tensions and preventing the situation from escalating into armed clashes that could have caused deaths and injuries.
The announcement follows heightened tensions in Beled Hawo, a strategically important border town near Kenya, where security arrangements and political disagreements have contributed to uncertainty.
The administration’s statement signals an effort to maintain calm and prevent further confrontation. However, the durability of the resolution will depend on the implementation of any understandings reached and continued cooperation among the parties involved.
Further details about the specific terms of the agreement and the measures planned to prevent renewed tensions were not provided in the statement.
