KISMAYO (Kaab TV) – The Jubbaland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has urgently appealed to international aid agencies after Al-Shabaab attacks triggered a severe humanitarian crisis in Kudha village, Badhaadhe District.
According to the Ministry, the attacks have had a devastating impact on the local population, affecting nearly 5,200 households, while around 3,500 people have been displaced.
The displaced families are currently facing extremely harsh living conditions and are in urgent need of clean drinking water, food assistance, medical care, and emergency shelter.
The Ministry’s report further noted that the situation deteriorated significantly after one of the village’s hand-dug wells was destroyed, leaving residents without access to safe and reliable water sources. In addition, the attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including deaths and injuries.
The Jubbaland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to coordinate and facilitate humanitarian response efforts by organizations assisting the affected population.
The emergency appeal highlights four critical priority needs:
Clean water – including emergency water trucking and immediate access to safe drinking water.
Food assistance – to prevent hunger and malnutrition among vulnerable families.
Shelter and protection – to ensure the safety, dignity, and basic living conditions of displaced persons.
Health services – including the delivery of medical equipment, supplies, and sustained healthcare support to the affected area.
The Ministry concluded by calling on all humanitarian partners to respond swiftly to this appeal, in order to alleviate the suffering of the people of Kudha village and help restore hope and a more secure future for the affected communities.
