Jubaland President Launches $21 Million Community Resilience Project in Doolow, Jubaland

Doolow (Kaab TV) – Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) today officially launched the Doolow Community and Displacement-Affected Population Resilience Project, a major development initiative aimed at strengthening livelihoods and improving living conditions for vulnerable communities in the district.

Funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) with an investment of $21 million, the project seeks to enhance community resilience, reduce dependence on humanitarian assistance, and promote long-term self-reliance and sustainable development.

The initiative includes the construction of nearly 2,000 housing units, the development of irrigation canals and productive agricultural farms, as well as programs designed to improve skills training and empower marginalized and low-income groups. The project also aims to expand economic opportunities and raise the overall standard of living for local residents.

Officials say the program will play a significant role in boosting agricultural production, supporting displaced populations and host communities, and strengthening resilience against recurring economic and climate-related challenges in Doolow District.

The project forms part of broader efforts to promote durable solutions for internally displaced persons and accelerate socio-economic development across Jubaland, particularly in areas heavily affected by displacement, drought, and limited infrastructure.
