AFMADOW (Kaab TV) – Afmadow’s Jubaland Darawish forces carried out a planned operation targeting areas north of the town, where they captured a member of Al-Shabaab who had been hiding in bushland.
The operation followed intelligence reports indicating movements by Al-Shabaab members in rural areas under Afmadow.
Security forces pursued the suspects early Friday morning, tracking them to their hideouts.
Commanders leading the operation said troops conducted extensive security sweeps to ensure stability across the targeted areas and to prevent potential threats posed by the group.
During the operation, Jubaland forces arrested Ali Macalin Ali Noor, an alleged Al-Shabaab member known by the alias “Musamil.”
Police sources say he had been recruited by the terror group four years ago.
Security officials stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in Afmadow and surrounding areas, and to intensify the fight against groups responsible for insecurity.
