MOGADISHU (Kaab TV) – Government forces last night arrested journalist C/xafiid Nuur, a reporter working with Somali Cable Television in Mogadishu.
Armed soldiers traveling in military vehicles reportedly detained the journalist in the Waaberi district. His whereabouts remain unknown, as authorities have not disclosed where he was taken.
So far, the government has not issued any official statement regarding the arrest. The detention has been strongly condemned by members of the media community as well as Somali Cable Television, where the journalist was employed.
Journalists working for independent media outlets in Somalia continue to face increasing pressure and challenges.
