Lebanon (Kaab TV) – At least 16 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and the southern parts of the country, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health. The attacks are part of the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has had a significant impact across the Middle East.
Reports indicate that an Israeli strike early Friday morning targeted a vehicle traveling through the coastal neighborhood of Jinah, located in southwestern Beirut, killing one person.
Another airstrike hit an apartment building in the Nabaa neighborhood, an area home to a large Armenian community. The building caught fire, although no casualties were immediately confirmed from that incident.
According to reports, this marks the first time the neighborhood has been targeted since the current conflict began. It is also among the areas that had previously avoided strikes during the 2024 war between Hezbollah and Israel.
Lebanese officials say the total number of people killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon in less than two weeks has reached 687, including 98 children. Meanwhile, more than 800,000 people have been displaced from their homes due to the strikes.
The Israeli military said that one of the strikes in Beirut was aimed at a member of Hezbollah. According to Al Jazeera television, Israel also claimed it was targeting financial storage sites that it accused Hezbollah of hiding in the basements of certain buildings.
During the attacks, an Israeli drone struck a multi-story residential building in Bourj Hammoud, a neighborhood located in northeastern Beirut, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency.
Some of the neighborhoods that were bombed are located far from southern Beirut, where the Israeli military had previously declared a combat zone and ordered residents to evacuate, as continuous airstrikes have been taking place there.
