Ilhan Omar Responds to the Search Operation Executed at Her Washington Residence

Somali-American U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar addressed a search operation conducted by federal agents at her residence in Washington, D.C., stating that she is safe and emphasizing that she will not be deterred from expressing her political views.

She characterized the action as political intimidation tied to her public opposition to President Donald Trump.

In a statement published on her X account, Congresswoman Omar asserted that the search is part of a pattern targeting political opponents of the Trump administration.

She warned against the weaponization of federal law enforcement agencies for political purposes, dismissing the allegations stemming from Donald Trump as entirely baseless.

“I am doing fine. Make no mistake, this is a targeted attempt against political opponents and the weaponization of federal law enforcement power for political ends,” Congresswoman Ilhan Omar stated.

“For ten years, Trump has subjected me to baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is simply the latest escalation in an ongoing campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had no direct involvement in the search, deferring the matter entirely to the Department of Justice.

Representative Omar’s office reiterated that there is no wrongdoing on her part, describing the probe as politically motivated attempt to suppress her voice.

The search was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents on the morning of Monday, October 12, 2026, under a court-authorized search warrant.
