High-Ranking Al-Shabaab Commander Killed in Hiran Region During Joint Security Operation

HIRAN (KAAB TV) – Somali national security forces, in coordination with international partners, have reportedly conducted a major counter-terrorism operation in the Show area of the Hiran region, targeting key elements of the Al-Shabaab militant group.

According to reliable sources within the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the well-coordinated operation specifically aimed to neutralize high-profile members of the extremist organization. As a result of the mission, Hussein Abdullahi Dalab—widely known by the alias “Amir”—was confirmed killed.

Dalab was believed to be the head of Al-Shabaab’s security apparatus in the Hirshabelle State, making him a significant figure within the group’s regional leadership. Intelligence sources described him as a strategic operative responsible for orchestrating numerous attacks against both civilian populations and government forces throughout central Somalia.

His death is being hailed as a critical blow to Al-Shabaab’s operational capacity in the region. NISA officials noted that removing Dalab from the battlefield will likely disrupt the group’s command structure and hinder its ability to plan and execute future attacks in Hirshabelle and surrounding areas.

“This successful mission is part of our broader strategy to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace to all Somali regions,” a NISA spokesperson said. “Operations like this demonstrate our unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Somali citizens.”

The agency emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with international allies, reiterating that such partnerships are vital to sustaining pressure on extremist networks operating within Somalia.

Efforts to stabilize the country and counter extremist influence are expected to intensify in the coming months, as Somali authorities, with foreign support, maintain a focused campaign against terrorist factions that threaten national and regional security.
