Heavy Rainfall Hits Mogadishu Bringing Traffic to a Standstill

Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – Heavy rainfall has hit the city of Mogadishu, causing significant disruption to movement along major roads in the capital and its neighborhoods. Transportation has largely come to a standstill due to accumulated floodwaters settling in low-lying areas.

Among the roads affected are the route leading to Aden Adde International Airport, as well as sections of the Industrial Road, Soddonka Road, and others, all of which have been inundated by rainwater.

Vehicles are now forced into traffic congestion on the few passable roads, while many people have been seen walking to reach schools, workplaces, and attend to other personal needs.

On the outskirts of Mogadishu, the rainfall has also had a severe impact on internally displaced families living in makeshift shelters known as “buul.” These fragile structures have been heavily affected by flooding caused by the rains.
