Heavy Airstrikes Target Suspected Al-Shabaab Facilities in Adan Yabaal

Heavy airstrikes carried out by Somalia’s international security partners struck multiple locations in the town of Adan Yabaal in the Middle Shabelle region on Monday evening, targeting sites believed to be used by Al-Shabaab.

According to local sources, the strikes began shortly after sunset, with a series of powerful explosions heard across the town.

Among the locations reportedly hit was the compound known as Villa Adan Yabaal, along with several other buildings suspected of serving as command, planning, and operational facilities for the militant group.

Preliminary reports indicate that the operation specifically targeted sites believed to house Al-Shabaab’s leadership and logistical infrastructure.

Witnesses said several missiles struck different parts of the town, sending shockwaves across Adan Yabaal, although the full extent of the damage remains unclear.

There has been no official confirmation of casualties or injuries, and it is not yet known whether senior Al-Shabaab figures were among those targeted.

The Federal Government of Somalia and the Somali National Army (SNA) have not yet issued an official statement confirming the operation, identifying the international partner responsible for the strikes, or providing details on the outcome.

Independent verification of the reported targets and damage is also still pending.
