HARGEISA (Kaab TV) – The police in Hargeisa have arrested Mohamed Andar, a journalist working for online media outlets in the city.
A colleague of Andar told Kaab TV that the journalist was taken into custody at the headquarters of Hargeisa’s police investigation unit.
The reasons for Andar’s arrest have not yet been disclosed.
Since President Irro took office, there has been a noticeable increase in the detention of journalists in Somaliland.
Media organizations have reported that, over the past ten months, cases of journalists being arrested have risen sharply, raising concerns about the state of press freedom in Somaliland.
