Lower Shabelle (Kaab TV) – The Ministry of Defense of Somalia has announced that the Somali National Army, in coordination with AUSSOM particularly troops from Uganda — has officially taken control in recent hours of the areas of Daarusalaam and Mubaarak in the Lower Shabelle region. The locations had previously served as hideouts and strategic bases for Al-Shabaab.
In a statement, the Ministry said the operation, named “Hillaac,” is part of the broader military campaign against Al-Shabaab during the holy month of Ramadan. The operation specifically targeted sites used by the group as makeshift courts to oppress civilians, safe havens for senior leaders, and coordination points for planning attacks and bombings against civilians.
During the operation, the Ministry reported that significant losses were inflicted on Al-Shabaab, with the destruction of military positions and weapons and ammunition depots in both areas.
Forces also seized military equipment and documents linked to the planning of terrorist activities.
The Somali National Army has now fully secured the liberated areas and is conducting clearance and verification operations to pursue remaining Al-Shabaab elements.
