JOWHAR (KAAB TV) – New details have emerged about a coordinated nighttime assault carried out by government forces and local residents on suspected Al-Shabaab gathering sites in the Middle Shabelle region.
The joint operation targeted the villages of Towfiq and Gedi Kheir, located within the Masajid Ali Guduud area. Security forces successfully seized control of both villages following the offensive.
Military officers leading the operation reported that they acted on intelligence indicating the presence of Al-Shabaab militants near the Ali Guduud Mosque. Acting on this information, they launched a decisive attack on the identified locations.
According to officials, several Al-Shabaab members were killed during the assault, although the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed. As of this morning, security forces continue to conduct operations in the area to ensure stability and eliminate any remaining threats.
The Middle Shabelle region has been a focal point for anti-Al-Shabaab operations in recent months, though the pace of operations had slowed in recent weeks prior to this renewed offensive.
