Mogadishu (Kaab TV) – General Odawaa Yusuf Rage was stopped at a military checkpoint in Mogadishu while carrying heavy weapons and military vehicles, an incident that quickly sparked tension and confrontation.
According to informed sources, there has recently been significant pressure on the General from the government, particularly from President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Reports suggest there was a plan to disarm him.
Soldiers stationed at the checkpoint argued that it is not permissible to move heavy weapons and military vehicles through the city without full authorization. However, General Odawaa reportedly asserted his authority, leading to a situation where he exited his vehicle, as seen in videos circulated on social media.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s term is set to end on May 15, 2026. In recent days, opposition groups have intensified their activities and preparations ahead of that date, especially amid claims that the President is pursuing a path of consolidating power.
The situation reflects growing mistrust and escalating tensions within the military leadership.
