GURICEEL (Kaab TV) – Security forces in Guri’el have arrested a 25-year-old suspect accused of carrying out a fatal killing in the nearby Madarasa Sheikh Mohamed area, local officials said.
According to security authorities, the suspect, identified as Ali Abdi Jama, was apprehended during a joint security operation conducted by police forces alongside members of Somalia’s intelligence and military units operating in the region.
Officials stated that the suspect is accused of killing Abdishakur Hassan Geledi on Tuesday night in Madrasa Sheikh Mohamed, an area under Ilih in the Galgadud region.
Security officers said the operation to capture the suspect was carefully coordinated among multiple security agencies following investigations launched shortly after the killing was reported.
The suspect is currently being held at the Guri’el Police Station while authorities continue formal investigations into the case and gather evidence before forwarding the matter to court.
Officials confirmed that legal proceedings are expected to begin once the investigation is completed.
The incident comes amid continued efforts by Somali security agencies to strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety in central regions of the country, where local authorities have intensified operations targeting criminal activities, clan-related violence, and armed attacks.
Authorities in Galgadud have in recent months increased cooperation between police, intelligence, and military units in response to growing concerns over security incidents affecting local communities.
Security officials urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report suspicious activities as part of broader efforts to maintain stability and prevent violent crimes in the region.
