DHUUSAMAREEB (Kaab TV) – The Galgaduud Regional Court of Appeal in the Galmudug administration on Sunday sentenced two men to death by firing squad after finding them guilty of killing a woman and her three daughters in early October.
The murders took place in an area near Qaayid, close to the town of Adaado in the Galgaduud region.
The court announced today that it had overturned a previous prison sentence issued by the lower court against the three defendants. Two of the accused — Cabdi Cismaan Cabdullaahi and Galad Axmed Xuseen — were instead sentenced to death by execution.
The two men were accused of shooting and killing Sahro Xersi Cartan and her three daughters, Nuura Axmed Maxamuud, Xaawo Axmed Maxamuud, and Faa’sa Axmed Maxamuud on the night of October 9, 2025, while they were at their home in the village of Xiindheere.
Sahro Xersi Cartan was killed alongside her three daughters: Nuura Axmed Maxamuud, Xaawo Axmed Maxamuud, and Faa’sa Axmed Maxamuud.
The group that carried out the killings reportedly did so as part of a clan revenge attack, after failing to locate Sahro’s husband, who was away from the village at the time.
The third defendant, Ayuub Maxamed Cabdi, was sentenced to five years in prison.
The court also ordered the Galmudug administration to confiscate two AK-47 rifles used by the convicted men in the attack.
Clan-related killings remain a major problem in central Somalia, and some regions continue to experience clan conflicts rooted in cycles of revenge.
