MUQDISHO (Kaab TV) – Further details have emerged about a brutal attack carried out by clan militiamen on Wednesday night in the village of Mircaanyo in the Galgaduud region, central Somalia.
The attackers raped a woman and her three daughters before killing them.
A member of the Somali Parliament, Sa’id Siyaad Shirwa, described the incident as horrifying and called on the Galmudug authorities to swiftly arrest those responsible.
“I condemn this act, which goes against humanity, Somali values, and Islamic principles,” said the MP.
Residents told Kaab TV that the clan militiamen, who came from the Adaado district, attacked the village of Mircaanyo and abducted a woman named Sahra Artan Hirsi along with her three daughters.
The militias, who have an ongoing clan conflict with the inhabitants of Mircaanyo, were reportedly looking for the woman’s husband. When they couldn’t find him, they took Sahra and her daughters instead.
Eyewitnesses said the militiamen raped the woman and her daughters before killing them, using knives and bullets.
The three daughters were:
- Nuurto Ahmed, 13 years old
- Xaawo Ahmed, 17 years old
- Faa’iso Ahmed, 21 years old
Local clerics and youth groups condemned the attack, calling on the clans of both the victims and the perpetrators to exercise restraint and avoid further violence.

“This is not something our ears can bear to hear or our eyes can bear to see. It is a horrible incident unlike anything we have ever witnessed before,” said Sheikh Nuur Jaamac, one of the clerics in the Galgaduud region.
Following the incident, reports indicate that civilians are fleeing from rural villages such as Qaayib, Xiindheere, and Mircaanyo, fearing that the armed militias might carry out further attacks.
Clan clashes in which much blood has been shed.
In the central regions of Somalia, clan conflicts that have claimed many lives are ongoing, rooted in recurring clan vendettas.
The militias have grown stronger since the emergence of the Ma’awisley groups, which were armed by the Federal Government of Somalia and some regional administrations to fight against Al-Shabaab.
However, these same Ma’awisley fighters are now turning against civilians, causing widespread suffering.
