KISMAYO (KAAB TV) – The Jubbaland Ministry of Education has announced the results of the 2024–2025 Grade 8 national examinations, with girls making a strong showing among the top performers.
A total of 5,053 students from 129 schools across Jubbaland sat for the exams. Among them were 2,251 girls and 2,985 boys, alongside 11 students with disabilities.
According to the ministry, 4,996 students passed, representing a 99 percent pass rate, while 57 students (1 percent) did not make it through.
Education officials congratulated the successful candidates for their hard work and encouraged those who failed to keep striving for better results.
Performance by subject showed Somali, Technology, and English as the strongest areas for students, while Arabic language ranked lowest, with an average score of 59.84 percent.
Regionally, schools in Gedo secured the top two positions, followed by Lower Jubba, home to Kismayo, in third place.
Among the top 10 students, four were girls.
The highest overall score went to Mohamed Hassan Omar Abdi from Doolow, Gedo, who achieved 88.50 percent.
He was followed closely by Nimco Mohamed Cashar Abdi from Kismayo, who claimed second place with 88.38 percent, making her the leading girl performer this year.
